THREE-PRONG CULTIVATOR

Opens up the soil

Breaks up the compacted layer at the surface so water, air and seed can get in.

What it is: Hand tool with three prongs and a long handle.
How it works: The prongs break the compacted crust without turning over the turf.
When and where: Day 1, across the whole area, with extra attention where the lawn is thin.

GARDEN BAG

Collects the debris

For clearing leaves, thatch and dead grass before sowing.

What it is: Tear-resistant 150 L garden bag, folds away after use.
How it works: What you loosened has to go: thatch left in place stops the seed from reaching the soil.
When and where: Day 1, after mowing and loosening.

DAY 1

REVIVE

Rebalances the soil

Not a fertiliser and no instant green: it works on pH, because in acid soil nutrients stay locked up.

What it is: Granules of natural calcium carbonate, ultra-fine particles. Calcium 36.5%. Granules 2–6 mm.
How it works: The granules dissolve quickly and lift pH to the level where the plant can actually take up nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
When and where: Day 1, across the whole area, before sowing. Dose: see label.

DAY 1

CHAMPION

Repair overseeding

The seed that closes thin patches, with a grass that takes sun, heat and low mowing.

What it is: 80% tall fescue, 10% perennial ryegrass, 10% Kentucky bluegrass. Latest-generation American genetics.
How it works: The fescue roots deep and stands up to drought; ryegrass and bluegrass cover fast and thicken over time. Medium-fine texture, dark green.
When and where: Day 1, only on the prepared thin patches. Excellent in full sun, tolerates partial shade.

DAY 1

STARTER

Gets the roots going

Supports the freshly sown seed through its most delicate phase: rooting.

What it is: Phosphorus and colloidal silicate. No nitrogen, on purpose.
How it works: Phosphorus supports the roots; the silicate holds water and air in the soil around the seed.
When and where: Day 1, right after sowing, only on the overseeded patches. Order: seed, contact, Starter.

DAY 14

MARATHON

Feeds for months

Thickens the lawn and keeps it fed for a long stretch, without growth spikes.

What it is: Organo-mineral fertiliser NPK 15-5-10 with magnesium, sulphur and trace elements.
How it works: Three forms of nitrogen released at different times: steady feeding for 2–4 months.
When and where: Day 14, across the whole area. Water afterwards to help it be absorbed.

HOW TO USE THE KIT

THE METHOD, STEP BY STEP

Applying six products at once is not the point. What matters is what you give, when, and in what order. Open Close

BEFORE YOU START

The method happens in two visits: one working day and a return after two weeks. The right windows are March to May and September to October, once the soil stays above 10-12 °C. Revive and Marathon go on the whole lawn, Champion and Starter only on the thin patches.

DAY 1

Mow the grass very short

Everything that follows depends on this.

A normal cut is not enough. Seed and products have to reach the soil, not sit on the grass.

DAY 1

Aerate the lawn

The soil has to be able to open up.

Details

Use the three-prong hoe to loosen the soil and break the compacted surface layer. Work the whole area, with extra care where the lawn is thin.

SAME DAY

Collect leaves, thatch and dry grass

The area has to be clean before you go on.

Thatch is why many overseedings fail: the seed sits on top of it and never touches soil.

SAME DAY

Revive — rebalance the soil

Across the whole lawn.

Revive is not a fertiliser and will not green up the lawn straight away. It works on pH: in acidic soil nutrients stay locked and every fertiliser performs below its potential.

Details

Spread evenly across the whole area. For quantities follow the official label on the pack, calibrated to the square metres of your lawn.

Find and prepare the areas to overseed

Only where the lawn is thin.

Details

Loosen the soil on the bare patches so the seed meets soil rather than grass. Where the lawn is already dense, there is nothing to overseed.

SAME DAY

Champion — sowing

Generous, even distribution over the prepared areas.

Champion is a repair overseeding: the amount in the kit covers the thin patches, not the whole lawn.

RIGHT AFTER

Press the seed into contact with the soil

Contact with soil, not a thick covering.

Details

Rake lightly and firm it down with the back of the rake or by walking over the area. The seed has to touch soil; sitting on top, it will not germinate.

SAME DAY

Starter — on the overseeded areas

Correct order: seed, contact, Starter.

Starter does not replace Marathon. Starter works on the roots in the first weeks, Marathon feeds the lawn for months.

RIGHT AFTER

Water the whole lawn thoroughly

First watering, across the whole surface.

DAYS 2 TO 13

Keep the top layer of soil damp

This is where germination is won or lost.

Short, frequent watering rather than one long soak now and then. If the surface layer dries out completely even once, seed that has already started will die.

DAY 14

Marathon — the long feed

Across the whole lawn, followed by watering.

Details

Watering after application helps the fertiliser be taken up. From here the lawn is in maintenance, no longer in repair.
